Week 6 Homework Notes and Videos
Week 5 homework, especially for inside work, remains the same:
Short List of Above:
- Sit on The Dog
- Long Place dropped leash
- Relieving Leash Tension
- Loose Leash Inside Walk around distractions
- Heel inside around distraction objects (food, toys, et). See if you can do it four times in a row, then give food reward, and repeat for 2 other sessions. Four times in a row, I mean I want a good position for the last few steps and then an auto sit.
- Downs
- Sit stays with a dropped leash
- Send to Place
- Flirt Pole Play Training (you can see if you can bring this outside too)
Outside walk and practice (shoot for a few minutes at a time of dialling your puppy in:
- Walking protocols as in Week 5 Examples. This is for working on especially when your puppy is on the 6' leash. The goal is just to get Rigatoni used to walking nicely on a leash. This will take a while.
- Lured Heeling Step 1 or 2 can be practiced for a short amount of time.
WEEK 6 WORK FOR OUTSIDE DISTRACTIONS AND FAR AWAY DOG DISTRACTIONS (NOTE JUST THE GROUND CAN BE QUITE DISTRACTING ESPECIALLY IF THE SNOW IS MELTING):
- Sits and maybe sit stays when getting 4 in a row for 3 sessions becomes easy. By easy, this means you can get this done outside for well under 5 minutes.
- Loose leash walking while giving food rewards on the left around outside distractions, including possible dogs in the distance (NOTE: ONCE LOOSE LEASH BECOMES EASY, PRACTICE LURED HEELING STEP 1 IN OUTSIDE DISTRACTIONS):
- If it is warm enough for humans, do sit on the dog somewhere where Rigatoni can see other dogs.
